Strengthening Thailand’s Education Data for Global Benchmarking: OECD INES Workshop in Bangkok event
On 17 December 2025, Ms. Jetsumon Sumayteepradit, Deputy Provincial Education Officer of Samut Prakan, Ministry of Education in Thailand, joined a national workshop focused on strengthening Thailand’s education data collection for international reporting.
Held at Busabongkot A Room, Royal River Hotel, Bangkok, the workshop brought together education policy and planning leaders to support Thailand’s preparation for the INES report and the Education at a Glance 2026 reporting cycle.
An overview of Overview of Thailand’s Education System Structure was presented by foreigner speakers Mr. Éric Charbonnier, Analyste à l’OCDE – Direction de l’éducation et des compétences and Mr. Abel Schumann, Senior Programme Manager – Indicators of Education Systems (INES).
Ms. Jetsumon Sumayteepradit, participated alongside Mr. Surasak Surasen, Senior Policy and Planning Analyst and Acting Senior Policy and Planning Analyst, Director of the Policy and Planning Group. Together, they contributed to technical discussions on how Thailand can collect, validate, and organise education indicators in line with OECD frameworks—work that supports clearer comparisons across countries and stronger evidence for decision-making.
The opening ceremony was presided over by Dr. Niti Nachit, Deputy Secretary-General of Thailand’s Office of the Education Council. In a special lecture, Dr. Niti outlined current Thai education policy and offered a candid view of the system’s strengths and challenges—setting an informed tone for two days of focused, data-driven collaboration.
